Rava Dosa is South Indian dish also known as Ravvattu or Rave Dose. It is made with a batter of semolina, rice flour and water along with other ingredients. The best part of making Rava Dosa is that it does not require any fermentation and is very easy to make. Here’s the recipe of how to make crisp and Instant Rava Dosa & Onion Rava Dosa
Ingredients
- 1 cup (165g) Semolina (Fine Sooji/Suji)
- 1 cup (125g) Rice flour
- 1/2 cup (55g) All Purpose flour (Maida)
- Some Onion finely chopped
- 3 Green Chillies finely chopped
- 1 tbsp. Ginger grated
- 1 tsp. Cumin Seeds (Jeera)
- 1/4 tsp. Asafoetida (Hing)
- Some fresh Coriander chopped
- Salt to taste
- Oil / Ghee / Butter
Instructions
- In a large bowl, add Semolina, Rice Flour and All Purpose flour.
- Add Salt, Asafoetida, Cumin Seeds, grated Ginger, Green Chillies and fresh chopped Coriander.
- Mix well all ingredients.
- Now, add water (2 & ½ cup approx.) and prepare liquidy batter like Buttermilk.
- Whisk until smooth without any lumps.
- Heat Tawa on medium to high flame.
- Mix the batter well before making dosa.
- With a ladle pour the dosa batter on Tawa.
- Drizzle some Clarified butter on the top and sides.
- Cook till the base is crisp and golden brown.
- Rava Dosa will take a longer time to cook than normal Dosa.
- Fold the dosa and take it out.
- To make Onion Rava Dosa, spread some chopped onions on hot Tawa.
- Sprinkle the batter on Tawa with your hand. (watch the video below)
- Drizzle some Clarified Butter on the top and sides.
- Cook till the base is crisp and golden brown.
- Fold the dosa and take it out.
- Serve Dosa with Coconut Chutney & Sambar.
